Get ready for Fontwell Park’s Spooky Fireworks Spectacular! Even if you’ve visited us before, below is some useful information ahead of the event.
EVENT TIMINGS:
- Gates open at 5.30pm
- The funfair will be open from 5.30pm – 9.00pm
- The fireworks display will start at 8.00pm
- Food and drink outlets & funfair remain open
- The event finishes at 9.00pm
TRAVEL
The fireworks display will be an extremely busy event so please allow extra time to travel to and from the racecourse. Arrive as early as you can and remember that the funfair, bars and food outlets will remain open after the fireworks until 9pm when the event finishes - so stay a bit longer to let the traffic ease. We advise people to car share where possible, make use of public transport or walk if you can.
The racecourse is located in Westergate, between Chichester and Arundel off the A27. The nearest train station is Barnham which is on the main London Victoria to Chichester line. There is a 66C bus from Bognor Regis that stops at Barnham and an 85 bus service from Chichester to Westergate but please check local timetables and taxi services before departing.

FREE PARKING
The nearby parking areas at the racecourse are free but please allow plenty of time to get here. The fireworks display will be an extremely busy event so to alleviate congestion, please allow extra time to arrive and stay on after the display finishes. As mentioned above, we advise people to car share where possible.
Please inform the car parking stewards on arrival if you require accessible car parking.
ENTERTAINMENT
Funfair & Face Painting
Get ready to be thrilled at the huge funfair! The rides will cater for older kids and teenagers as well as gentler rides for toddlers. The funfair will be open from 5.30pm – 9pm and there is a charge for rides. There will also be face painting for younger children until 8pm. The fun fair rides are able to accept cash and card payments but please remember, there are NO cash machines on site.. Rather than rush off once the fireworks have finished, stay on to let the traffic ease. The funfair and bars will all remain open until 9pm.
Dress to Impress!
This year, we’re encouraging everyone, whatever age you are, to dress up in your favourite spooky-themed Hallowe’en costume. We’re really looking forward to seeing ghosts and ghouls, monsters and zombies!
WEATHER
The forecast for Friday evening is dry with a cool breeze with temperatures around 12 degrees. We advise you to dress with the weather in mind, wrap up warm and bring waterproofs as this is an outdoor event with limited indoor space. Our car park is predominantly grass and is likely to be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear and bear this in mind.
BONFIRE NIGHT FOOD & DRINK
A range of bars and food outlets are available serving tasty bonfire night snacks and drinks. A range of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan food options will be available across the racecourse. Please be aware that no food, drink or picnics can be brought into the racecourse.
SECURITY
We take security and safety very seriously. There will be a strong security presence and you will be subject to a bag search on arrival.
Please be patient and limit the bags you bring. Remember, no food or drink can be brought into the racecourse.
We ask all visitors not to leave bags unattended and to report anything suspicious to a member of staff.
OTHER INFORMATION
Payment
Please remember, the food outlets and bars are card only but the funfair rides will take either cash or card payments. There are no cash machines on site so please bear this in mind.
Dogs
With the exception of Assistance Dogs, dogs are not permitted to enter the racecourse. In the interests of animal welfare, no dogs are permitted to be left in cars and Fontwell Park Racecourse politely request that all dogs are left at home.
Concessions
At this event, no student, OAP or other concessions will be available.
Sparklers
For health and safety reasons, no sparklers or other lit fireworks can be brought into the racecourse.
